Ashley Maharaj, LPC

Mrs. Maharaj’s clinical expertise includes trauma, mood and eating disorders. She works with individuals who experience ADHD, anxiety, depression, PTSD, eating disorders, school avoidance, social skills challenges, behavioral problems, anger management, tantrums, stomach aches, body image, self – esteem and perfectionism.

Mrs. Maharaj utilizes psychodynamic, strengths-based and CBT modalities which include therapeutic play, movement, mindfulness, narratives, and somatic techniques. She also provides Trauma- Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT)

Mrs. Maharaj strives to be a warm and compassionate therapist who considers it a privilege to be a part of her client’s therapeutic journey. Her approach is to support a safe, trusting and non-judgmental environment that welcomes expression in many forms and is guided by a sensitivity to identity, ethnic diversity, culture, sexual orientation and systemic barriers.

Mrs. Maharaj earned her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Medaille College in Buffalo, NY and a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and Sociology from The University of Windsor in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. She has spent time working as a therapist in non profit and advocacy centers with survivors of trauma and in community mental health. Additionally, she has worked with clients who have eating disorders to provide therapy, meal planning and meal support, while also bridging gaps of care between step downs from Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) and Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP).
