She conducts diagnostic interviews and comprehensive developmental, psychological and psychoeducational evaluations to identify strengths and weaknesses and to assist with treatment planning and educational recommendations. Dr. Heidi provides individual and family therapy as well as school consultations. She has experience treating children and adolescents who have difficulties with ADHD, anxiety, depression, academic challenges, mood problems, oppositional behavior, and problematic family interactions. Treatment emphasizes evidenced-based methods such as cognitive behavioral therapy and family systems therapy to develop effective coping skills and to increase interpersonal and familial functioning. Dr. Heidi focuses on empowering parents to manage their child’s emotional and behavioral challenges and promote familial cohesion.

As a subspecialty, Dr. Heidi conducts comprehensive diagnostic evaluations to assess for the presence of an Autism Spectrum Disorder and provides treatment emphasizing social skills training and behavioral interventions. She also has specialized training in the psychological treatment of chronic illnesses such as diabetes, asthma, HIV, and cancer. She helps children and families manage common adjustment related difficulties including adherence to treatment regimen, pain management, sleep problems, family conflict, denial, behavioral challenges, anxiety and depression. Dr. Heidi’s approach to treatment emphasizes interdisciplinary consultation with other providers (e.g., pediatricians, teachers, schools, speech pathologists, physical therapists etc.) as well as other important individuals in a child’s life to provide comprehensive services.

Dr. Heidi earned a doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from the American School of Profession Psychology and completed her predoctoral internship at the Children’s Hospital of Michigan. Upon graduation, she completed a Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities (LEND) fellowship with an Autism Specialization at Children’s National Medical Center. She received her postdoctoral training at Mt. Washington Pediatric Hospital where she provided evaluations for Autism Spectrum Disorders, conducted individual and family therapy, and worked as part of the multidisciplinary diabetes team to increase child/adolescent treatment adherence as well as promote coping and adjustment to chronic illness.
