Jakobi Tharpe, LPC is a dedicated mental health clinician committed to providing compassionate, evidence-based care to individuals from a wide range of cultural and social backgrounds. He brings experience working with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families facing challenges such as anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, and life transitions.
Jakobi has provided therapy in both individual and relational contexts, using modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and person-centered approaches. Jakobi has a deep appreciation for the therapeutic alliance and thoughtfully tailors his work to each client’s unique needs.
With a strong commitment to inclusive, culturally sensitive care, Jakobi has served clients from diverse and marginalized communities, including BIPOC, LGBTQ+ individuals, and active-duty military members. Jakobi is passionate about increasing representation in the mental health field and creating spaces where clients feel seen, heard, and supported.
Jakobi earned his M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Marymount University and is a proud recipient of the HRSA grant. He completed his B.A. in Psychological Sciences at The College of William & Mary, where he was actively involved in student leadership and volunteer organizations.
